BBQ

July saw the newly-established annual tradition of the SMSC Summer BBQ

As we've had unbroken sunshine for a month, it was inevitable that the clouds would crack for this one. Nevertheless, a good time was had by those who braved the weather. Honest!

End of an Era!

Our recent AGM saw Secretary David White step down from the post he's held since the formation of Stroud Masters as an independent club.

David was a founder member of Stroud Masters 21 years ago and has been an ever-present since. Our thanks go to him for all the hard work he's put in to help establish SMSC. We hope to see him again as soon as his new business venture allows!

Early Start

Several swimmers have asked if we could start at 06.00 am on Monday mornings, swimming to 07.30 am. (this does not include Wednesday or Friday mornings). It was agreed to have a trial period of 6 weeks to see if there is enough interest to warrant a 06.00 am start on Mondays only. This trial is being continued for the time being. Numbers will be continue to be monitored. Those of you that prefer to start at 06.30 am may, of course, continue to do so. For the duration of the trial there will be no additional charge for the extra half-hour.

Club Wear

Hi everyone,

You may have seen me recently displaying a zipped hooded top with our Club logo embroidered. You are now able to purchase T-Shirts, Polo Shirts, Hoodies, zipped front hoodies and jog pants from Wizard Printers. The link to the shop is below. Once into the website find Categories on the top left hand side and click on club shops. Click on Stroud Masters SC link which will take you into a range of clothing and cost. You do not necessarily have to have red; competitive swimmers are still required to wear the red club polo shirt to competitions, but these are issued free by Carol. (Another reason to enter competitions!)

Please let me know what colour you would prefer and I will make sure that this is available. Orders to be placed through myself together with payment at time of ordering. The prices shown are at cost and the Club does not take any profit. I will have a black hoody (no zip) for you to look at and also the red zipped front hoody. These will give you some idea of sizing.

Swim21 Award

After a huge amount of work by Carol, we are proud to be the first Masters club in the South West region to be awarded Swim21 status. The award recognises among other things, our coaching and administrative setup and of the enormous work put in by the committee, and Carol and David in particular. Well done to them.
